Chimney Extension Project

The customer was requesting to extend the chimney as the original chimney was short after raising the building. To make the extension with a Class A pipe was installed. This job is a transition from masonry to metal pipe. For this transition, concrete footage was made to support the Class A pipe. The parts that were used to make this transition were the following items: anchor plate 6 inches, Class A Chimney pipe, ADJ Wall Brackets, and Solid Fuel Cap.

Wood Burning Fireplace

This is a Comfort Flame Wood Burning Fireplace prefabricated chimney with pictures of before and after. We removed the old pre-fab chimney by removing the mantel and then removing the old prefab chimney and the vent pipe. Once removed, we installed new vent pipes SL312, then installed a new prefab chimney and lastly, reinstalled the mantel.

Masonry Repair

This is a chimney in the DC area with weak and missing mortar joints. In order to fix the mortar, a grinder is used to grind out the areas that are weak and/ or missing mortar. Once the joints are removed, we power wash the chimney to remove any debris and moldy areas. Once power washed, we tuck points with new mortar and try our best to use the closest mortar color. After approximately 3 days, it is recommended to apply water repellent on the chimney to avoid water going inside the bricks, mortar and inside the house. In addition, we cover the concrete with crown coat brushable sealant.

Chimney Repair

This chimney was dismantled at the top to remove damaged bricks and inspect the interior structure. After realignment, new bricks were installed, and the chimney was topped with a concrete cap and protective chimney cover, improving both its durability and functionality. The base was also resealed to prevent water leaks.
